Home business, home education and health challenges: what makes us tic?

Practical Applications

As we work through the Old Testament in the first part of each (well, almost each) school day, we’ve inevitably covered the Ten Commandments. A big hit with all parents who teach their kids this portion of scripture has to be “Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.” (Ex. 20:12). Naturally I took pains to explain that a long and healthy life could only be had by obeying this commandment. (I know. You don’t have to say it.)

This weekend one of the girls’ best friends spent the weekend so that she could come to Church with us. On our way home, I overheard the following conversation:

BF:   My Granny is very old, She’s WAY ove 81, and she isn’t going to die. I know it!

DD#2: Oh? When she was a little girl did she always listen to her parents?

BF: I don’t really know.

DD#1: Well, she probably did, because that’s how you get a long and healthy life.

So proud.
